Our Library visit

On Friday 27th November the Phoenix House children paid a special visit to the Howick Library where we listened to some Christmas stories and were able to take home a special Christmas card and stickers which we could take back and decorate. They had a fun time and everyone actively participated in the songs and dances. It was such a hot day that once we came back we enjoyed a nice cool ice-block wit our friends :)

Decorating the Phoenix House Xmas Tree

This afternoon the Phoenix House children were busy decorating our Christmas tree making it bright, sparkly and very festive looking so Santa was sure to recognise us all the way from the North Pole :) They did an awesome job!!

Christmas tree Cookies

The Phoenix House children have had  busy afternoon baking Christmas cookies and decorating them using a variety of yummy toppings such as 100's and 1000's, chocolate chips, coconut and sprinkles. They went down a real treat for afternoon tea :)

Letters to Santa

Check out our new writing station for children to write letters and draw pictures to Santa. This area has proven to be popular amongst the Phoenix House Children already! Looks like Santa might have a lot of reading to do over the next few weeks :)

Play Ball Visit

About a week ago we had two special coaches come in from 'Play Ball' who did a number of activities with the Phoenix House children which encouraged social skills, listening skills, ball skills, throwing/catching, fostering hand/eye co-ordination, turn taking  and all these activities were carried out in a fun way and all the Phoenix House children were very eager to participate!
Play Ball will be returning in the New Year and will be offering programmes with the children which will be held at KCC (at a cost) ..if you or your child are interested in this or would like to know more information please feel free to contact Corrine and she will be able to provide you with the information you need :)

D.I.Y Sandwiches

In continuation of our Healthy 5 + a Day eating plan we have done fruit smoothies, fruit kebabs and today the Phoenix House children had the opportunity to create their own sandwiches for their Lunch. We had a selection of meat and salads for them to choose from. This activity encouraged the children to make healthy choices, fostered their self help skills and allowed them to create their own lunch which built up both their confidence and independence when making choices for themselves :)
