A little bit of NZ history

ANZAC day activities

Flags, Poppies, play-dough and cakes

This week we have been making lots of art creations in remembrance of the Australian and New Zealand soldier's for ANZAC day this Friday. We made New Zealand flags, a row of poppies, red play dough and a red iced cake for morning tea. At mat-time we sung our New Zealand anthem and Bex spoke to us about what ANZAC stands for, why we have a public holiday and wear red and poppies and why we have ANZAC day...to commemorate all New Zealander's killed in war and to honor the returned servicemen and women. We have learnt a lot about New Zealand History this week and had so much fun doing it!! Ka Pai tamariki ma.

Easter Treats

                  Becky's Biscuit Blog

We have been doing lots of fun and interesting Easter activities and today we made some Easter shortbread biscuits...Everyone had a turn with adding different ingredients, rolling out the dough and cutting the different shapes. We had cute bunnies, chicks, eggs and duckling shapes. They smelt so yummy as they baked on this cold, grey day..When they were ready, we coated them in pink and yellow icing and ate them for afternoon tea...DELISH!!

Our Friendship tree!!

What a way to celebrate the special friendships we have here at Phoenix House!!

Deck Party!!

With the building works starting on Monday, it is time to finally say farewell to our deck area.  So we did it Phoenix styles, with a great big deck party.  We had a special treaty morning and afternoon tea and disco dancing and it was the last time we performed our favourite song "Let it Go".  We can't wait to see what our new classroom is going to look like!!
