Mother's Day

Mother's Day Celebration

Photo Frame, Necklaces and Bracelets Activities

As Mother's Day is on Sunday on 11th May, to celebrate this occasion from last week  Kavita has been taking our photos with mum for our planned activities.  This week we have been making, painting and decorating  the photo frames for our mums. We have also been making bracelets and necklaces for our mums.  Kavita spoke to us at mat time that what our mum does for us and what we do  for her.  We had really sweet and cute answers. Through those fun activities we have shown and felt our love and affection for our mums. We love our mums...........

Wear Red for Healthy Heart competition

This year the children and teachers at KCC were the national 2014 winners for "Wear red for healthy heart day" which was held in February. The competition is held for ECE services, the ‘Wear Red for Healthy Hearts’ is about running wild with the red theme – everyone dressing in red for the day, decorating their ECE services and doing loads of fun red activities and this year....we were the reddest and the raddest.

As the winners of this competition we were visited by the Healthy Heart character "Hearty" and treated to a yummy fruit and vege platter for morning tea which was kindly donated by 5+ A Day. The Heart Foundation also gifted us a Tefal fresh express food prep appliance to help with prepping our morning tea or with any of our cooking activities during our Master Chef/baking current focus topic.

Well done to everyone who participated in this special day and helped us to win this award!!

A little bit of NZ history

ANZAC day activities

Flags, Poppies, play-dough and cakes

This week we have been making lots of art creations in remembrance of the Australian and New Zealand soldier's for ANZAC day this Friday. We made New Zealand flags, a row of poppies, red play dough and a red iced cake for morning tea. At mat-time we sung our New Zealand anthem and Bex spoke to us about what ANZAC stands for, why we have a public holiday and wear red and poppies and why we have ANZAC day...to commemorate all New Zealander's killed in war and to honor the returned servicemen and women. We have learnt a lot about New Zealand History this week and had so much fun doing it!! Ka Pai tamariki ma.
