We have tadpoles (-:

Look what we have in Phoenix house!
Phoenix house children and teachers are very excited.
We've had an empty fish tank for sometime and have been thinking about what kind of animals we want in our room next.

Tadpoles are perfect, as we can watch them change into frogs.

We have them set up safely in our science corner, where the children can check on them whenever they like.

We have about 16 tadpoles, some have legs and some dont.
It has been interesting watching them swim around the rocks and settle into their new tank.
We will keep you updated as they grow.

Slowly changing into frogs

They are beginning to transform into frogs now. Their tales are getting shorter and the colour is changing. They are practising their jumping, which means we need to be careful when feeding them and lifting the lid to the tank...we don't want them to jump out.

Our Baby Budgies

Meet Topper and Biscuit

Wow, lots has been happing in phoenix house including our budgies Rainbow and Batman having babies!!!

It's been so amazing for the children to experience such a fascinating process. It has been great for them to develop a sense of responsibility as they help look after the baby birds. We have watched them grow ever since they hatched out from there eggs. Batman and Rainbow are fantastic parents and have taken such great care of Topper and Biscuit. We have also been lucky enough to be able to handle them. So they love having cuddles every now and again.

Making Sushi with Ki

Sushi!!!

We love creating here in Phoenix house, and we love food! So what better way to incorporate both then making Sushi. We have been learning all about our culture and what makes us unique. For Ki its all about the Chinese culture and she is a master at making Sushi. They children have recently made some felt sushi pieces with Ki and today they extending their knowledge by making real sushi to eat. We had so much fun learning how to create this yummy food, we all gave it a go and tasted our end product. Tracey even had a go!
